The Licensing Process:
  1. To obtain your broker license, a student must have had an active sales associate license for two years with a broker and completed the 45 hour post license course.
  2. The student needs to take this course, pass the course with a score of 70% or more on the end-of-course exam and take the state exam and pass the state exam with a score of 75% or more.
  3. This exam process takes about 3 to 4 weeks. Students can mail the application to Tallahassee before they take the course. This is important because students need to shorten the time between the Course and the State Exam. Retention of the course material is an important consideration regarding the student's efforts to pass the State Exam.
  4. The process to make application to the state of Florida for the Initial License process is the following:

    • Cooke School recommends that, if at all possible, as soon as the student decides to take the broker license course, the student make application to the state of Florida.  This can be accomplished by doing it on-line or printing the application out, having it notarized and mailing the application in with a check. The school recommends students make the application on-line, because it is faster and the student can attest to the facts without having to have the document notarized,  saving time and money. Students can make the application payment on-line by credit card.
    • Complete the application as honestly as you know how. DISCLOSE ALL .
    • Applicant's Social Security number is required on the application.
    • The broker application into the state of Florida is $115.
    • Your fingerprints need to be taken at a Pearson VUE Exam Center.  Reservations are necessary for this process.  Reservations can be completed by calling Pearson VUE at 1-888-204-6289 or 1-877-238-8232 making reservations on the Pearson VUE website  and selecting "Fingerprint Services".   The fee for the fingerprint process is $57.25 (Pearson VUE $15 and FDLE/FBI $42.25).  Here is a link to the current Pearson VUE Exam and Fingerprints centers in Florida.  LINK
    • Out of state applicants ONLY must receive a fingerprint card which can be obtained by calling the school at 1-800-943-9993. Take the card to your local police department and mail completed fingerprint card to: FL - DBPR c/o Pearson VUE, 3131 South Vaughn Way, Suite 205, Aurora, Colorado 80014. Must send cashier check or money order .
    • Take the required course.
    • After you have completed the course, check this link to determine if your application is approved. >APPLICATION STATUS LINK<

How does this On-line program work?
  1. This course is composed of 18 unit/chapters. After viewing the streaming video of the courses, either on-demand or live, the student needs to complete the Session Quiz.
  2. The student needs to complete the quiz with a score of 80% or more. Once the student has completed the quiz successfully an e-mail will be sent to the student letting them know what question they answered in error. Students are encouraged to review the course and find the correct answer. If the student did not score 80% on the quiz the student will need to retake the quiz until they have successfully passed the quiz.
  3. A student can move onto the next unit without passing the previous one but the student will not be able to access the final exam until everything is complete and passed.
  4. Besides the individual session quizzes on each session, the practice exam requires 70% or higher.
  5. Once the quizzes and the practice exam have been successfully completed the student will be emailed a portal to take the end-of-course exam.
  6. The only portion of the course that is timed is the end-of-course exam.
  7. The final exam is a timed three hour exam. The exam is multiple choice with four choices. The student must score a 70% or more on the end-of-course exam.

Information the student needs to know before taking this course.
  1. Once the student purchases this course, the student CAN NOT get a refund.
  2. This On-Line course does not require additional textbook support and NO additional course material is needed; however, students can purchase additional study material on our Cooke Bookstore.
  3. The only portion of the course that is timed is the end of course exam. The student has three hours to complete the exam. Students must complete the exam in one session. Students will not be allowed to complete the exam in segments. A passing grade of 70% is necessary for passing the course.
  4. If the student fails the On-Line end of course exam, the student has to wait more than thirty day or less than one year before the student can retake the end of course exam. The student is able to have access to review the course until the student takes the end of course exam again at the 30 plus days waiting period. If the student fails the second time the student will need to retake the On-line course again and the student will need to pay the full tuition fee again.
  5. Once the student signs up for the course it is good for one year.
  6. This course is NOT designed to be printed for security purposes and copyright regulations.
  7. At the time of registration for the On-Line Distance Learning Course, the student will receive an e-mail from Cooke School, verifying the student's registration.
  8. Every On-Line student must agree to the following affidavit: "I certify that I personally completed all assignments and have not duplicated any portion of the end-of-course examination". This certification affidavit is incorporated into the course under 'Instructions for the Final Exam'. The student must select 'yes' and click "enter" to take the final exam.
  9. Before taking the on-line final end-of-course exam, it is important the following technical information be review by the student to eliminate as much as possible any technical issues that might arise.
  10. The On-Line course can be taken and is available up to a year from the time of registration.
  11. Upon completing the course, RECampus posts for Cooke Real Estate School a daily report of student's final grade report for the final exam. The staff at Cooke reviews this report daily, Monday through Thursday, and mails the completion certificates to those students who have successfully received a grade of 70% or better. Allow three to four business days to receive this completion certificate.
